Review Blitz: The Prince's Bride Part 1 by: J.J. McAvoy

I have not blogged about a book in a long time. Not because I haven’t read any good stories, but because time has simply not allowed me to reflect on the goodness of a great read. So, during a period of time when I was forced to unplug for a few days for the betterment of me, I was gifted with an ARC that reminded me of why I love to read. The Prince’s Bride Part One was nearly perfect!

J.J. McAvoy introduced us to Prince Galahad “Gale” of Ersovia, who is the typical playboy prince. However, his family needs him to grow up and take his princely duties seriously to save the monarchy. He is clearly reluctant, however duty to family and country decides his fate as he decides to go along with his brother’s latest plan, which involves Odette Wyntor.

Odette Wyntor is an American billionaire heiress, trying to live her best life, but her deceased father and dramatic mother just won’t let her be great. Why you may ask, because she can’t touch her millions or billions until she meets the stipulations her father outlined in his will. So, what happens when you put a dramatic mother and a financially strapped monarchy together, you get one heck of a story in the Prince’s Bride.

Now, this story had its fair share of twists and turns, but the characters were well developed and relatable in that it wasn’t a story that was so far-fetched that it was unbelievable. I enjoyed the pace of how Gale and Odette grew to know each other and came to a decision regarding their fate on their own terms. I know there is much more to discover with all the different relationships that are ever present in this story,  so I am looking forward to seeing how Gale and Odette continue to grow. This was truly a couple that was sweet and funny and all the things that will keep you wanting to read more about them.

I digress. Remember when I mentioned that this read was nearly perfect, I say that because it left one helluva cliff hanger. Like I felt left alone. Desolate. Confused. Anxious. Shall I go on? Anywho, enough with the dramatics, I am going to give this read 5-stars, because it is a great story with a multi-cultural cast of characters and so many of all the things you look for in a romance novel. I am going to recommend that you run and pre-order The Prince’s Bride Part One that is available at all of your major ebook retailers.

Review Blitz: Cruel Fortune by K.A. Linde

Lose yourself to the dark and glamorous underbelly of the Upper East Side in the second book in USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde's new billionaire romance Cruel Trilogy.

I finally have everything I ever wanted--fame
and fortune and literary success.

Only one problem: I lost my muse.

He was tall, dark, and handsome. Broody,
enigmatic, alluring, and right for me in every way.

Until he wasn't. Until I lost everything.

And I can't lose it all again. I'll do anything
to keep it.

Even seeing him again...

My Review

How can something be so wrong seem so right? Well let me tell you about Cruel Fortune by K.A. Linde, the second book in the Cruel Trilogy. In this installment, Natalie's writing career is definitely on the upswing, but her love-life is a plain ole cluster flock. With so many things happening in this second installation, I didn't even know who I was rooting for when it came down to Penn and the Upper East Side clique known as the Crew.

Things are nothing how they appear, where  up is down and left is right. There is so much confusion and a sinking realization that the Crew needs therapy. Like they are seriously cray-cray to a point where they give zero f*cks about no one or nothing besides what they want to do and who they want to do it to. From sex to drugs and all things in the middle, this story is going to take you on an emotional ride that will have you either cussing or gasping at all of shenanigans that unfold.

I digress. After reading this book I am shooketh, because there is no other word that can adequately describe the feels I have after reading this story. AS such, I am going to give this read 4-stars and suggest you jog and read Cruel Fortune, by K.A. Linde, because if you like drama that's a combination of Cruel Intentions and Pretty Little Liars, you will enjoy reading this series. I can't wait to read the final book in this series, Cruel Legacy this summer!

Lose yourself to the dark and glamorous underbelly of the Upper East Side in USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde's new billionaire romance Cruel Trilogy.

She was supposed to be a one night stand.

A way to sate my sexual appetite.

I let her glimpse the man I am. The face that I hide behind my carefully cultivated life.

But she ripped open that divide--and there's no going back.
Now, she's here. In my city.

I don't care that I'm Manhattan royalty and she's the help.

Only that she's living in my summer home. With me.

And I want more.

Review Blitz: Cruel Money by: K.A. Linde

Synopsis

My Review

Bay, Bay, let me tell you... this book was ever-ry-thang! Do you hear me? Natalie and Penn were ever-ry-thang! Their story, that started with a one night stand six years ago, was ever-ry-thang! I mean K.A. Linde breathed new life into 2019 with this release of  Cruel Money, the first book in the Cruel series. There was so much drama, like it was as if the characters of Cruel Intentions and Gossip Girls merged together to form the Crew, who were equal parts main characters and supporting cast at the same time.

Anywho, initially, I hated Penn, he came off as a total jerk, but it was not long before he had woo'd me over and I was rooting for him to win. Natalie, on the other hand, was likable from the start with her Daenerys Targaryen hair and her easy going, no nonsense, inquisitive nature. Together, these two had enough drama between them, but the Crew added a layer of tom-foolery that was beyond me and baby girl Natalie.

I digress. I am going to give this read 5-stars and recommend that you run and read Cruel Money by K.A. Linde! Why? Because it is not only good, but it is well-paced and will leave you wanting to know what happens next, which is a great sign for a three part series. I can't wait to read Book Two Cruel Fortune, because... well...what you need to do is just go and read Book One for yourself. Oh and don't forget to read One Cruel Night which is a free prequel to Cruel Money available at all major digital book retailers. Thank me later and happy reading!

Release Day Review Blitz: Finding Alexei by Kendall Ryan

Synopsis

He’s bossy, moody, and overprotective.

He’s also a pro athlete who needs to focus on winning games and staying out of the headlines.

I’m fiercely independent and need a man like I need a second period each month.

So when our worlds collide, I never expected him to be the one to jump in and save me. Especially not when my roommate disappears, leaving me with her baby.

I’m clueless about babies—and it shows. Good thing Alexei isn’t. With six nieces and nephews and an apparent hero complex, the dude is both sexy and more than capable. It’s a combination that makes it easy to forget we’re just playing house.

My Review

It's playoff season and what better way to spend your time than to read a hot and steamy read about football while your significant other cheers on their favorite or not so favorite team? Finding Alexei by Kendall Ryan is a standalone novel within a series that follows players of the fictional football team the Chicago Hawks.  This installment spotlighted linebacker Alexei, who has presented himself on and off the field as a no nonsense, fight you anywhere, type of guy and Ryleigh, who just needs a a break. Like, I just wanted to say, "Sis, you in danger girl...". I mean she was definitely a hustler with a great value system, but she was on the struggle, bus, train, and ride share.

Anywho, these two were really good for each other and despite their own stubbornness, they were great together. I mean like the author did a great job of portraying  the balance between an athlete's work life on the field versus their home life with family and loved ones. Overall, I REALLY enjoyed reading this one! The story was well-paced, the characters were likable and at times lovable, and truly demonstrated how you can never judge a book by its cover.

I digress. I am giving this one 5-stars and suggest you run and read Finding Alexei by Kendall Ryan! I mean why wouldn't you, we still have two more weeks left before the Super Bowl.

Release Day Review: Dear Jane by Kendall Ryan

Synopsis

I broke her heart ten years ago and left town.

She hates me, and rightly so. It doesn’t matter that the rest of the country loves me, that I’m a starting quarterback with a multi-million-dollar contract. Because when I look in the mirror, all I see is a failure who was too young—and too afraid—to fight for what I wanted.

But I’m not that guy anymore, and all I need is one shot to convince her.

***
He has no idea what happened after he left. And now I’m supposed to work alongside him like we don’t have this huge, messy history?

But I’m older now, wiser, and I won’t let anything stand in my way of doing a good job for this league. Not even one overpaid, arrogant player who thinks we’re going to kiss and make up.

News flash, buddy: I am over you.

My Review

Are you ready for some football? Well, I'm not much of a football fan, but I absolutely loved Dear Jane, by Kendall Ryan. If you love a good second chance romance novel that is swoon worthy and steamy, look no further. Wes and Jane had a passion, that has served them well for the good, the bad, and the indifferent times, over the years. And as we get to know them and they get to know each other, we start to believe that this love could be for forever. Or will it?

Overall, I enjoyed this read. I liked the way it was written and the steady build up of the Wes and Jane's grown-up kind of love. I also liked how their parents were active participants in their story but not too much, and the supporting characters in the story that added a nice touch and a peeked interest into their lives off the field. I am going to give this one 5-stars, just because it was a cute and genuine contemporary romance that had its ups, downs, all-arounds, and why did he do that that warrants you to run and read Dear Jane, by Kendall Ryan.

My Review

Let me start by saying I really like Blood Type. It was different, but well written. Sometimes difficulty to connect, but intriguing all the same. Reyna was annoying, but who wouldn't be with a lack of showers. Lastly, Beckham, well his name alone should have cause a bit of social anxiety, but he was cold a distant, because he had a lot of crap going on. So, after my 5-star review of the first installment of  this series, I was hopeful for so many reasons to read Blood Match by K.A. Linde, the second book of this series. Bay-bay, let me tell you, Blood Match  was EVERYTHING!

Review Tour: The Wright One by K.A. Linde

Synopsis

A new sexy contemporary romance duet from USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…

Secrets swarm all around.

My world is crumbling under the strain.
I don’t know if we can survive this.

But is his?

The Wright One is the last book in the Wright Love Duet that began in The Wright Love. Find out if Sutton and David survive their world of secrets in the conclusion to the Wright Love duet!

My Review

Well, well, well! The Wright One by K.A. Linde picks right back up where she left us dangling in the Wright Love with Sutton Wright and David Calloway dealing with the aftermath of the "big secret". It's a messy situation with hearts and minds and feelings and opinions all over the place that only set the scene for the chaotic and emotional conclusion to their love story.

Excerpt

My blood pounds through my body, my heart beating so hard that I can feel the pressure not only against my ribs, but against the wall behind me. My lips are parted, my breath coming in shaky gasps.

He’s only inches away, so close I could reach out and touch that famous, gorgeous face. His eyes, as deep and blue as the summer sky, roam over me. He eases closer, moving slowly, his face reflecting a hunger that sends shivers through me.

Once again, my mind conjures the image of a hungry wolf. Only now I’m thinking that maybe getting eaten wouldn’t be so bad after all.

Besides, I’m here. Might as well enjoy it.

Then, of course, I remember exactly what it is.

Oh, God.

His fingertip brushes my forehead, and I almost jump out of my skin. I meet his eyes, see something that looks like irritation, and want to kick myself. I need to focus, dammit.

“You were somewhere else.” He speaks flatly, as if he’s working to keep all emotion out.

I shake my head, conjuring a lie. “I’m right here.” And then, because I’ve seen movies with call girls, I put my hand flat on his chest, trying to seem seductive. He’s wearing a gray T-shirt, and I can feel his heart beating beneath the planes of his muscled chest.

I read somewhere that he was getting in shape to play a superhero in an upcoming movie. And kudos to whoever’s orchestrating that transformation, because this guy is rock solid.

My Review

I have enjoyed each of the books in this series. Each of them was a standalone featuring one of the Wright Brothers, Landon and Jenson. However, throughout both of the past two books of this series, The Wright Brother and the The Wright Boss, there were two characters in the background that demanded your attention. There was Austin Wright, who always had a drink in his hand and forever unbothered, yet intuitive and then there was Julia who was clearly a lady in the streets with lots of sass and such when he is hanging with her girls.

Children of Vice by: J.J. McAvoy

About Children of Vice

I, Ethan Antonio Giovanni Callahan, first son of the former head of the Irish mob, Liam Alec Callahan, and former head of the Italian mafia, ex-governor, Melody Nicci Giovanni Callahan, solemnly swear to ruthlessly protect our family name, business and way of life, no matter the cost to me or anyone else. I shall show no mercy, I shall offer no forgiveness, there will be no peace for those who stand against me.

I will live for my family.
I will kill for my family.
I will marry for my family.

I, Ivy O'Davoren, the only daughter of Shay O'Davoren, solemnly swear to ruthlessly and mercilessly exact revenge on the Callahans and all those who betrayed my father and family.

I will live for revenge.
I will kill for revenge.
I will marry for revenge.

My Review

I am a fan of J.J. McAvoy's Ruthless People series, so when I was given the opportunity to read Children of Vice, I was more than ecstatic! In this novel, we are introduced to an adult Ethan Callahan and his siblings and cousins who were just kids in the Ruthless People series. It was cute and refreshing to learn the paths their lives had taken after the death of Ethan's parents, Liam & Melody Callahan.

Ethan was indeed ruthless! I think he was an equal blend of both his parents and in Children of Vice his biggest problem isn't just the "family's business", but the family. He wants to start his own, but he also is trying to keep him, his brother Wyatt and his sister Donna, a family. In the process, we meet the new queen of the family Ivy, with all kinds of issues and although she is truly a victim of her environment, she is a woman of action. If Ivy can do anything at all to alter her circumstances, no matter the situation, she acts. I mean they do not give her the name "Beautiful Poison" for nothing.

This novel has so much good and bad with the world in it and is a read you will think about for days on end after you've read the last word. These character came to life and you could see their complexities and not so complex moments that seemed so lifelike. I was definitely fascinated by the Callahans before, so Children of  Vice just added an additional layer of intrigue.
