My Review

I have patiently awaited the release of this title for what seemed to be a very long time, and I can honestly say I was not disappointed with Sin with Me by J.T. Geissinger. This third installment of the Bad Habit series was everything the fans of the bad by the same name and the three best friends who have fallen for them have been waiting for and then some. In this installment, we have the divine pleasure of learning more about hard-hitting, in your face, do what I want, Grace Stanton. In earlier books of this series we learn about the accident that robbed her of her memories of her family and her youth, but we never quite knew who she was since then and how she copes with her inner turmoil and when she is home alone with just her thoughts that keep her awake a night.

Then there is Brody Scott. Musical prodigy and lead guitarist of the chart topping band Bad Habit and the man that has the cutest boyish crush on Grace that has spanned the series. Brody has secrets. The kind of secrets that he replay in his mind like a bad re-run of any 80’s sitcom that remind him of his past and haunts even when he is awake. His secrets are a heavy cross that he carries with him daily, but with Grace, he began to believe that there is such a thing as redemption.  

Overall, I give this read 4.5-stars because it was a good story, much like the rest of this series. It has a little of everything… romance, drama, suspense, humor, steaminess, and even a few moments that will give you something to believe in that is much bigger than our own understanding. In this third and, I have the strangest feeling, not the last installment of the Bad Habit series, the author not only brings back all of the characters we have grown to know and love over the past months, but she also adds additional layers to each of them. She allows us to peak in to their new lives as their relationships grow and develop into a quirky family of their own choosing. So, because of all of these reason and a few more you will have to discover for yourself, I recommend that you run and read Sin with Me by J.T. Geissinger.

I jumped as Will’s hand brushed across my back.

“Hey, calm down. I’m not planning on groping you in here.” He shrugged, frowning. “I just wanted you to relax…you seem nervous.”

My shoulders fell, tension seeping from them as I shook my head. “I’m sorry, I am a little nervous. Today’s a big day for me.” I took a deep breath. If I wanted to clear the air, it was now or never. “And I’m sorry about last weekend. Things got a bit out of hand.”

Will leaned back against the desk, crossing his ankles. “No, you’re not the one who should be apologizing. I was out of line, and what I said wasn’t fair.” He shrugged. “I’m not saying I don’t find your reasoning frustrating, but if that’s how you really feel, I’ll back off.”

I nodded, finding it hard to meet his eyes. I hated the idea of him backing off but that was the very thing I’d asked him, no yelled at him, to do.

“I like you Em. We should be able to be friends. We get along well.”

I smiled, thinking how right he was. We did get along well. “Friends would be nice.”

He nodded. “Good, friends it is.”

“Yes, friends who refrain from dancing with each other.”

Will frowned. “We should still be able to dance together.”

I laughed. “Not the way you dance.” I felt my face go red just thinking about it. “I’m sorry, I’m just a little embarrassed about…you know…” my voice trailed off, unable to even consider verbalizing our last encounter. Innocent phrases like Texas or nightclub or dance floor felt like they should exist alongside other dirty words in some adults-only dictionary.

Will bent his head to meet my eyes. “If it helps, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about…you know…” His eyes ran down the length of my body and back up before widening deviously, and I had to lean against the desk to stop from sliding to the floor.

This man was going to destroy me and the worst thing was I was powerless to stop him.

Kim Carmody lives in Australia with her husband, in a sunny little part of Melbourne that she never wants to leave. Except for frequent trips to New York, she is happy to leave at least once a year for those.

She holds a Masters in Commerce Marketing and while she spent her younger years training to become a professional dancer, she somehow ended up working in the sports industry, where she met her now husband.  Never a participant or spectator of sport growing up (she was too busy flitting around in a tutu), she has grown to appreciate, if not love many sports and eventually found herself writing about them too.

My Review

Wicked Beautiful by J.T. Gessinger is a second chance romance novel that takes you through a gambit of emotions from hurt to healing and utter disgust to admiration for the main characters Victoria Price and Parker Maxwell. These two truly had a teenage love affair reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet, but not. First, Parker doesn’t’ even know Victoria is his teenaged lover,  and for second, they come from opposite sides of the preverbal train tracks and Parker’s father vehemently does not want his son dating someone like Victoria, who is of a different race and socio-economic background.  

Fifteen years ago, Parker abruptly breaks Victoria’s heart  and killed her soul when at the age of 17 and completely disappears. So what does Victoria do, she picks herself up from the pit of despair and gets even with a pen and a makeover that catapults her to stardom and the H.B.I.C. Literally. Victoria thinks she has it all together until Parker pops up and fantasies of revenge fill her head, but her heart calls out for the love she once had and still has for him. So, while she's plotting revenge, Parker is planning their lives together and just when you think the jig is up, a twist is thrown into the mix and sends the story up down and all around, tossing a gambit of even more emotions in the atmosphere.

This novel can best be describe as a story of feels. My feelings were all over the place. I wanted to hate Victoria, but I couldn’t because she did suffer some tremendous losses along the way. And I really wanted to hate Parker, but sheesh, I just couldn’t. Their friends were hilarious and have interesting lives and stories of their own. However, I did settle on the fact that I did not, without any question like Parker’s father and as the story unfolded, Victoria’s mother wasn’t necessarily ‘mother of the year’.

I digress. I would give this read 4-stars and would recommend that you jog and read Wicked Beautiful by J.T. Geissinger. This is the third novel I have read by this author and I can honestly say, characters have traits about that them that are so relatable. She consistently has a diverse cast of characters that are relatable to myself as a reader or reminds me of that one friend that does those odd things. If you have not read any of her books, I would definitely recommend that you read Sweet As Sin and Make Me Sin both good and both out now. Oh and before I leave you, add Wicked Sexy to your ‘Want to Read’ list on Goodreads, to be release Summer 2016.

An Interview with Charis Michaels

Thank you for taking the time to hang out with me (us) today.

Let's talk your newbie status at Avon...how does it feel to be the new girl in town?  How do you feel your historical romance stand out among the crowd?

Well, I haven’t been privy to the secret handshake, but I just received my team shirt, and I love the rhinestones.  I’m kidding, of course, but only a little.  The sense of family and support from both the professionals at Avon Books and the other Avon authors has been phenomenal.   

         

During a romance-writer conference last summer, I was invited to two Avon-author events in New York City—one in their downtown offices and the other a cocktail party in Highline.  When the invitations arrived some weeks before, I was certain there had been some mistake.  Yes, I had signed with Avon, but my books would not come out for nine months. 

I sent some feelers out and guess what?  No mistake, they included me, just the same as Avon authors whose work I have admired for years. 

From the moment I stepped off the elevators (and let me just tell you, the publishing offices of Avon books does, in fact, look just like a movie set, down to the framed iconic book covers hanging on the walls), I was embraced by everyone. 

For a writer whose goal publisher had been Avon Books literally for years, it was a dream come true. 

For a terrified newbie who was chanting, Act naturally in my head, it was an opportunity to blurt out, “How is your brain?!” to New York Times best seller Sarah MacLean (who I knew had undergone brain surgery earlier in the year).  Other awkward moments abounded, all in service to my nerves and inexperience, but I left feeling as if I truly was part of the Avon family. 

How do my books stand out?  Well, I try to deliver three things to readers:  humor, hopefulness, and conflict that stands the test of what I like to call a good talking-to.  That is, my characters have more to overcome than simple misunderstandings or some impasse that could be solved with a good, long talk.  These characters may be made for each other, but they have to work for their happily-ever-afters, and getting there is so much fun.
