Review Blitz: The Prince's Bride Part 1 by: J.J. McAvoy

I have not blogged about a book in a long time. Not because I haven’t read any good stories, but because time has simply not allowed me to reflect on the goodness of a great read. So, during a period of time when I was forced to unplug for a few days for the betterment of me, I was gifted with an ARC that reminded me of why I love to read. The Prince’s Bride Part One was nearly perfect!

J.J. McAvoy introduced us to Prince Galahad “Gale” of Ersovia, who is the typical playboy prince. However, his family needs him to grow up and take his princely duties seriously to save the monarchy. He is clearly reluctant, however duty to family and country decides his fate as he decides to go along with his brother’s latest plan, which involves Odette Wyntor.

Odette Wyntor is an American billionaire heiress, trying to live her best life, but her deceased father and dramatic mother just won’t let her be great. Why you may ask, because she can’t touch her millions or billions until she meets the stipulations her father outlined in his will. So, what happens when you put a dramatic mother and a financially strapped monarchy together, you get one heck of a story in the Prince’s Bride.

Now, this story had its fair share of twists and turns, but the characters were well developed and relatable in that it wasn’t a story that was so far-fetched that it was unbelievable. I enjoyed the pace of how Gale and Odette grew to know each other and came to a decision regarding their fate on their own terms. I know there is much more to discover with all the different relationships that are ever present in this story,  so I am looking forward to seeing how Gale and Odette continue to grow. This was truly a couple that was sweet and funny and all the things that will keep you wanting to read more about them.

I digress. Remember when I mentioned that this read was nearly perfect, I say that because it left one helluva cliff hanger. Like I felt left alone. Desolate. Confused. Anxious. Shall I go on? Anywho, enough with the dramatics, I am going to give this read 5-stars, because it is a great story with a multi-cultural cast of characters and so many of all the things you look for in a romance novel. I am going to recommend that you run and pre-order The Prince’s Bride Part One that is available at all of your major ebook retailers.

Release Day Review: Dear Jane by Kendall Ryan

Synopsis

I broke her heart ten years ago and left town.

She hates me, and rightly so. It doesn’t matter that the rest of the country loves me, that I’m a starting quarterback with a multi-million-dollar contract. Because when I look in the mirror, all I see is a failure who was too young—and too afraid—to fight for what I wanted.

But I’m not that guy anymore, and all I need is one shot to convince her.

***
He has no idea what happened after he left. And now I’m supposed to work alongside him like we don’t have this huge, messy history?

But I’m older now, wiser, and I won’t let anything stand in my way of doing a good job for this league. Not even one overpaid, arrogant player who thinks we’re going to kiss and make up.

News flash, buddy: I am over you.

My Review

Are you ready for some football? Well, I'm not much of a football fan, but I absolutely loved Dear Jane, by Kendall Ryan. If you love a good second chance romance novel that is swoon worthy and steamy, look no further. Wes and Jane had a passion, that has served them well for the good, the bad, and the indifferent times, over the years. And as we get to know them and they get to know each other, we start to believe that this love could be for forever. Or will it?

Overall, I enjoyed this read. I liked the way it was written and the steady build up of the Wes and Jane's grown-up kind of love. I also liked how their parents were active participants in their story but not too much, and the supporting characters in the story that added a nice touch and a peeked interest into their lives off the field. I am going to give this one 5-stars, just because it was a cute and genuine contemporary romance that had its ups, downs, all-arounds, and why did he do that that warrants you to run and read Dear Jane, by Kendall Ryan.

Excerpt

Shelby brushed her lips against his, her whole body seeming to come to life. His lips were soft, his hands tight. He was enveloping her and she was completely defenseless against him.

She wrapped her arms around him as the kiss deepened, and suddenly she didn’t want to play it safe anymore. She’d been in her shell for so long and she wanted to come out of it, wanted to feel again. She dragged her tongue over his lower lip, and it seemed to awaken the beast in Drew.

He took over, the kiss going from sweet to carnal in an instant. His mouth opened, tongue sliding over hers and dominating with strength and a sensuality she’d never come across before. He kissed her long and hard, his hands molding to the curves of her body. Over and over again his tongue danced with hers. Never before had a kiss seemed so effortless. It was like they’d been kissing forever.

For a man who claimed he was socially awkward, he sure could kiss like a god.

Ruthless People by: J. J. McAvoy

I started reading this series over a year ago. I mean, I had requested book two via NetGalley and upon realizing it was a second book in a series I reached out to the author via Twitter to see if it was necessary to read book one first. Her response was not really or something to that affect, so it sat there. But then one day, another book by this same author popped up on Netgalley. The title of the book was Childstar by J.J. McAvoy and I immediately requested this one.  Although, I was intrigued by The Untouchables of the Ruthless People Series, I was turned away by some of the reviews I had been running across.

Anywho, I read Childstar. It was good, but there was something about these two characters, Melony and Liam who popped up in this series and forced me to pay them some attention. I had never read a book that the supporting characters pulled at me so much that I had to know who they were. Melony and Liam become bigger than the main characters in Childstar and thus began my love affair with Ruthless People by J.J. McAvoy.

Immediately after reading Childstar and completing the review, I purchased the first book in the Ruthless People series by the same title. From the beginning to the end the story was phenomenal! There was so much action, crime, corruption, loyalty, and love in this story that it was bursting from my Kindle app. The Callahans were so bad and yet so good all at the same time.

Ruthless people told the beginning of a new era for the Irish crime family, the Callahans. With Cedric stepping down as the Ceann na Conairte and Liam taking his rightful seat on the thrown. And because every king needs a queen Melody Giovanni had been chosen, handpicked, and groomed to not only head the Italian mafia but also to sit at his side. Each of them grew up knowing that this day would come and they studied and prepared all their lives to be the head of the Irish-Italian mafia.

However, Liam could not have been prepared for the strength and fortitude that Melody possessed. She was beautiful, smart, and ruthless and was never afraid to fire her gun for which Liam and his brother lived to tell that tale.  Conversely, Melody was not prepared for Liam’s charm and Hollywood good-likes to sweep her off her feet. She was also not ready for the outpouring of love the Callahan clan had to offer.

They fought each other, they fought anyone that thought about attacking them or dared an attempt, but they were not ready for the attack in their own home that nearly ripped Melody apart and forever changed their family.

I digress. This book was good! There were some grammar checks that annoyed me, but this was just an overall good story that captivated me until the very end. I personally was not prepared for this story. You see, I don’t usually read crime or mafia style books, but I persevered and continued to I swipe left and even sometime right because I just couldn’t believe what I was reading and had to read it again. Overall, I feel I cannot give this read anything less than 5-stars and recommend that you run and read Ruthless People by J.J. McAvoy.

This is one book that I must say you have to read for yourself, especially if you are a fan of this genre.
